BACKGROUND:
The republic of Kongo is located in Central Africa, bordering the South Atlantic Ocean, between Angola and Gabon.The earliest inhabitants of present-day Congo were people called the Bambuti. These people were linked to the Pigmy tribes whose culture was slowly replaced by Bantu tribes from the Democratic Republic of Congo. About 2,000 years ago, introducing. The main Bantu tribe living in the region were the Kongo (Bakongo) who established weak and unstable kingdoms along parts of the Congo River. The capital is known as Mbanza Kongo. After Eurpoe left alot of violence and conflict struck. this is because they are unable to use their naturaul recources for their benifit but instead they have attracted the attention of adventurers, corporations, warlords and other governments, and divided the population between competing ethnic groups. once the Europeans moved out, a man of the name of Joseph Mobutu gained power of the country and had been using the riches to secure his place in control.during his rule, the country slipped out of his control and Rwanda helped engage Congo into the deadliest conflict in African history

Obviously, from the name, the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo) is founded on democratic grounds. They have elected multiple presidents and now, the place belongs to Joseph Kaliba. There are several issues in Congo including, "conflicts over basic resources such as water, access and control over rich minerals and other resources as well as various political agendas." these are some of the various reasons why there are issues in the DRC. since the outbreak in august, 1997, 5.4 million people have died (14% of the population, 47% consisting of children); 15 million displaced refugees; deaths are mostly due to non-violent actions such as malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia and malnutrition. every month, an average of 45,000 people die. There has been some ups and downs in the DRC and is expecting to continue like this for the next couple of years. Important agricultural developments like coffee, palm oil, rubber, cotton, sugar, tea, and cocoa are very wealthy in the DRC. they make up over 57% of the GPD in congo.
